Introduction

I have a fully equiped workshop which has been a dream for as many years as I can remember. I have knowledge of a craft that I know that I could share with others. So it only seems logical to make use of both of these things and offer short beginners courses in leather work.

I currently have two courses on offer (though intermediate courses may appear in due course).

Course: Make a leather belt from scratch

Learn to make a leather belt from scratch. I will teach you about sourcing the leather, cutting and preparing the leather, burnishing, punching holes, fitting the belt buckle, riveting the belt retainer, triming and finishing all in one day.

I will teach you how to use all the tools and talk you through where the best place to source tools might be.

A comprehensive 1 day course for beginner and intermediate leatherworkers alike.

Duration: 1 Day (09:00 -17:00 approx)

Cost: £150

Available Dates: 21st October 2023 and 4th November 2023 (Please specify preferred course dates in order notes box at checkout).

Course: Make a Leather Journal from scratch

Learn to make one of these beautiful leather journals from scratch. Perfect for keeping a diary on your travels.

I will teach everything you need to know about making this journal, including making the pattern, cutting and preparing the leather, punching holes, edging and sewing saddle stitch the traditional two needle sewing style used by saddlemakers.

A comprehensive 2 day course for beginner and intermediate leatherworkers alike.

Duration: 2 Days (09:00 -17:00 approx)

Cost :£300

Available Dates: 28th / 29th October 2023 and 11th/12th November 2023 (Please specify preferred course dates in order notes box at checkout).

Both Courses include:

All Materials, leather, thread, rivets, needles and a hand made Italian notebook insert for the journal if on the journal course. You will use tools and templates provided by me (so I will want them back at the end of each day).

Free instruction pack with notes on how to make each item, how to make your own templates for each project, where to source materials and the places to buy the best quality tools (not the rubbish for sale on ebay).

Free tea and coffee and digestive biscuits.

There is plenty of free parking on site (so that is not a worry) and the workshop is a brisk 15 minute walk from Bognor Regis railway station.

Plenty of time to chat and ask questions.

All courses will be at the weekend. You will need to bring your own lunch, or alternatively you can either use uber eats / just eat to have food delivered or the usual fast food places are a short 10min walk / 2 min drive away. Lunchtime is flexible and based on progress during the day.

The course end time is flexible. If we run over then we will stay until the project is complete. If we finish early, then I am more than happy for people to make use of my rather large scraps box to make some smaller items.
