Terms & Conditions

Well here we are at the terms and conditions page and if you are reading this you are either very curious, or you may have a problem and are looking to find a way to resolve it. If you fall into the latter category, let me assure you we are all on the same team. People aren’t perfect and life happens. I am here to help so let’s work together to resolve any issues.

Important Note

Andrew, our Founder and Director Says:

“If you have an issue with one of our products or services please don’t be rude to any member of my team here at Mallard Design. I will not allow the wonderful people who work with me to endure any form of abuse or be subjected to any kind of abusive behaviour, verbal or otherwise. Be polite and you can be assured I will bend over backwards to resolve whatever issue you may have.“

Use of this Website

Use of this website and any purchases through Mallard Design are governed by the Terms and Conditions as detailed on this page. By browsing and using this website, you are agreeing to be subject to these terms and conditions.

Wood and Leather Products

Most items in the home now are made from uniform materials like plastics, composites, laminates and other materials which all perform in a uniform way. These materials are used because their properties are fixed and they can be used in automated manufacturing to produce fixed, identical items many, many thousands of times over.

Products made from wood and leather are not uniform. In wood knots, grain patterns, colour variations and texture can all be subtly different even though the material is named as this wood or that wood. Likewise leather described as hide or skin can have its own subtle colour variations, grain differences, can have scratches and scars and again may have subtle variations in texture.

All of these variations I embrace and it is what makes my pieces unique. It is because I understand these variations that as experienced craftsman I am able to work with the material as it presents to me and use these differences in material to produce a quality piece to the highest standards.

Ordering

No contract for the sale of any product will exist between you and Mallard Design, until you receive a confirmation email.

This email will detail products ordered, payment method and cost. You must check that all details are correct and contact us as soon as possible if they are not.

All orders are subject to availability. I make every effort to ensure all products are held in stock, meaning that excluding very busy times such as the run up to Christmas you should receive your order within 7 days. If it is on the website and you have bought it, it is in stock. If you buy it it should immediately disappear from the shop as all items are individual and unique.

If during busy periods, such as the run up to Christmas, if there is going to be a delay in delivering your order I will let you know immediately.

ALL orders are shipped by Royal Mail / Courier and a signature will be required on delivery.

I try my hardest to represent my products honestly, but all of my products are made from nature materials and so the product you receive may look slightly different to the photograph in the shop. The photograph will always be of the object you recieve but I cannot control the vaguries of computers and digital cameras and their representation of colour.

Payment

Prices shown are in UK sterling.

Prices are current at the time of display and are subject to variation without notice.

We do not store credit card details and your credit card transactions are secure. All on-line orders are encrypted and sent through our secure server, using SSL technology to prevent information from being intercepted.

Lifetime guarantee (Resurfacing)

Lifetime resurfacing is offered on all chopping boards. If after years of heavy use your board has deep scratches then simply contact Andy, with your order details, and I will guide you though the process to return the board to us. Resurfacing will take 1-2 weeks and the board will be returned to you looking brand new (if a bit thinner).

To make use of my resurfacing service, you, the customer will need to bear the cost of shipping the board back to me and the cost of me returning the board to you. I will advise you of these costs when you contact me to request my resurfacing service.

Please not my resurfacing service does not cover the cost of damage to a board because it has been through a dishwasher cleaning cycle. The damage to the board in this circumstance is likely to be too much to repair.
